Siargao to Butuan and Balanghai Hotel

SONY DSCThere was sadness while leaving the beach we had stayed for almost a week. We extended for one more day for we really loved to stay at Patrick. A tricycle moved us from Gen. Luna to Dapa pier. Before entering the pier gate, we purchased an economy ticket worth P230 per passenger. We preferred the RORO (Roll on, Roll off) ship. The resort’s owner, Mr. Andreas recommended it for additional comfort. I really didn’t know how it happened that we left the pier on scheduled time at 6am and while in the middle of the way, the ship returned back to Dapa pier. Some technical problem need to be fixed according to the troubled staffs. They fixed it and finally departed at 9am.
The RORO was so dull that it took 5 hours to Surigao City. Next time, better to try those small passenger boats from Siargao to Surigao. They are quite fast. They said, the same route took only for two hours.

Docked at Surigao pier, we strolled in the vicinity to look for a good restaurant but we have none to find. It was already raining. By a tricycle, we went to the land terminal for a bus going to Butuan. The driver told us to choose a van instead of a bus for a cheaper fare of P120. We agreed so we go on. On the way, we realized that our decision was wrong. The van was not using its air condition. The window was open and always picking up passengers on the way, filling more people inside. I expected that Surigao to Butuan is just two hours but we made it for three hours. Another hour was wasted for our plan to visit some historical sites in Butuan City.

Where I stayed: Balanghai Hotel

Buddies: Partner

We arrived in Butuan City at 5pm and we headed directly to Balanghai Hotel by a tricycle. The hotel was very nice and old fashioned. The floors and ceilings mostly made of woods. The only available was the standard room worth P1,400 without window but with television. The hotel has a pool but we were so tired to swim. I noticed that they didn’t have enough staffs to assist all guests. We just went to our room and checked everything. I asked for a staff’s help because I couldn’t start the A/C. The water in the toilet didn’t satisfy me for a great flushing. Anyway, I didn’t expect a good amenities with such price but I really salute them for handling so many guests. They were handling seminars and conferences, so more guests are expected in the lobby. It’s amazing! At such price, they have complimentary breakfast for two which relieved our hunger.

Tips. A few walk from the hotel. In front of the municipal hall, we found a good restaurant offering “chicken Inato” and “buko halo” as their specialty. (I forgot the restaurant’s name). It was a good option to refill the complaining stomach.

We visited Gaisano Mall in Butuan City to buy some stuffs and souvenirs. The closing time was 9pm.
